Copra
Copra is the processed, dried kernel of coconut utilized in the extraction of coconut oil. Copra is utilized for a variety of purposes. It is used as food as it an important source of nutrients including proteins, vitamins, and minerals. Copra is the dried meat of the seed and after processing produces coconut oil and coconut meal. Coconut oil, aside from being used in cooking as an ingredient and for frying, is used in soaps, cosmetics, hair oil, and massage oil. The production of copra – removing the shell, breaking it up, drying – is usually done where the coconut palms grow. Copra can be made by smoke drying, sun drying, or kiln drying. Hybrid solar drying system is also used to make drying process runs continuously, therefore it will reduce drying time.
Copra can divide in to two class such as Milling copra and edible copra. Milling copra is the copra use to get oil and edible copra is use as dry fruits. Milling copra can also divide in to different grades and this grade shows the quality of copra which taken to extract oil from it. Milling copra is not suitable for cooking or any other human consumption .
